According to the report, "The business intelligence (BI) and analytics market has passed a tipping point as it shifts away from IT-centric, reporting-based platforms and toward modern BI and analytics platforms that enable smarter analytics and greater agility."
Gartner also noted in the report that, "As demand from business users for pervasive access to data discovery capabilities grows, IT wants to deliver on this requirement without sacrificing governance -- in a managed or governed data discovery mode."
The 2016 Gartner Critical Capabilities for BI and Analytics report evaluated products from the 24 vendors that also were evaluated in Gartner's 2016 Gartner Magic Quadrant for BI and Analytics Platforms report, published Feb. 4. Gartner's Critical Capabilities report is the companion report to the Gartner MQ and scores vendor products on 15 weighted critical capabilities across five primary use cases -- Centralized BI Provisioning, Decentralized Analytics, Governed Data Discovery, OEM/Embedded BI, and Extranet Deployment.
"We believe Birst's strong performance in this year's Gartner Critical Capabilities for BI and Analytics Platforms report reflects our leadership in developing a Networked BI Platform that eliminates data silos and delivers both agility and scale, with better economics," said Brad Peters, Chief Product Officer, Birst. "It is not enough to support centralized OR decentralized use cases. We help organizations do both -- enabling global governance and local execution and providing them with a unified, consistent view of all enterprise data."
Birst's modern BI platform empowers enterprise end users to work with data autonomously with unprecedented agility and speed, while maintaining governance and consistency. The Birst Networked BI Platform creates a network of interwoven BI instances that share a common analytical fabric, eliminating data silos to ensure collaboration and accelerate the delivery of BI across the enterprise.
