Preeminent Cloud Business Leaders Join Forces to Further Cloud Foundry's Position as the Industry Standard Platform for Cloud Applications

SAN FRANCISCO, CA --(Marketwired - March 15, 2016) - Cloud Foundry Foundation, home of the industry-standard platform for cloud applications, today announced its 2016 Board of Directors. As Cloud Foundry enters its second year as an independent non-profit foundation, it has rapidly grown to 57 members worldwide with backing from a board of directors comprised of the top business leaders in Cloud technology. 

"Every Global 2000 CIO is building a multi-cloud IT strategy. Cloud Foundry is the standard platform for multi-cloud computing," said Cloud Foundry CEO Sam Ramji. "Gartner Research and other leading analysts expect multi-cloud strategy will be common for most enterprises in the next few years. The 2016 Cloud Foundry Foundation Board of Directors includes:

Executive Director Sam Ramji (Cloud Foundry Foundation CEO)
A 20-year veteran of the Silicon Valley and Seattle technology scenes, Ramji brings a wealth of business, product and open source experience to the Foundation. He was head of strategy for API powerhouse Apigee, designed and led Microsoft's open source strategy and drove product strategy for BEA WebLogic Integration. Previously he held a range of software engineering positions at firms including Broderbund, Fair Isaac, and Ofoto. He is a member of multiple industry advisory boards.

Chair John Roese (EMC Senior Vice President and CTO)
John Roese leads hardware and platform engineering, telecom and xSP research and development as well as advanced innovation and is responsible for shaping EMC's technology strategy across three of the most transformative trends in IT: Cloud, Big Data and Trusted IT. In addition to his experience in leading large-scale R&D at Huawei's Futurewei, Nortel, Broadcom, Enterasys and Cabletron, Roese has been involved in several open source initiatives including helping Pingtel open source SipX. He served on the board of directors of One Laptop Per Child, a global initiative that leverages open source tools and content to educate millions of children in the developing world. He most recently brought EMC fully into the OpenStack effort, including core contributions to Cinder (block storage), work in Swift (object storage) and helping launch the Manila (file storage) efforts.

Director Bill Hilf (Senior Vice President and General Manager, HPE Cloud)
Bill Hilf leads the engineering, product management, product marketing and delivery of the Hewlett Packard Enterprise cloud portfolio, enabling enterprises to build, manage and consume hybrid cloud services. Before HPE, Bill was GM of Product Management for Microsoft Azure. He also previously led product management for Microsoft's multi-billion dollar Windows Server business, including the launch of Windows Server 2008, and led the Platform Strategy Group, helping bridge the Microsoft and Open Source communities. Before joining Microsoft, Hilf worked at IBM as a senior architect and expert in Linux and Open Source.

Director Damion Heredia (IBM Vice President of Product Management for Cloud)
Damion Heredia leads strategy and product management for Bluemix, IBM's Cloud Platform, which has grown rapidly to become the world's largest public Cloud Foundry deployment, and includes over 140 APIs and services. Heredia joined IBM as part of its acquisition of Lombardi Software in 2010, after which he went on to lead a key part of the WebSphere portfolio, specifically focusing on business process management and its open standards initiatives. Following that, he launched IBM's mobile software business.

Director Rob Mee (Pivotal Software CEO)
Rob is a pioneer in agile programming. He founded Pivotal Labs in 1989, to focus on agile's rapid, Internet-style software development. Under his leadership, Pivotal Labs is credited with shaping the software development cultures of some of Silicon Valley's most influential and valuable companies. He oversaw Pivotal Labs' acquisition by EMC Corporation in March 2012, and continues to lead and guide the vision and growth of Pivotal Software.

Director Andreas Wesselmann (SAP SVP, Products and Innovation Technology)
Andreas Wesselmann is responsible for Development and Product Management of SAP HANA Cloud Platform, Internet of Things (IoT) Services, and the Security Product Portfolio of SAP. During his tenure at SAP, SAP HANA Cloud Platform, the PaaS offering from SAP, has grown to a key pillar of SAP's Digital Transformation Strategy. Andreas joined SAP in 1997 and had held various roles in the areas of Software Development, Product and Program management.

Director Ajay Patel (VMware SVP and General Manager, Cloud Provider Software)
Ajay Patel is senior vice president and general manager of Cloud Provider Software for VMware, where he leads a team that develops cloud software and oversees one of the world's largest Service Provider ecosystems through the VMware vCloud Air Network program. In his current role, Ajay is responsible for driving product and go-to-market strategy, solution development, sales and marketing, and all partner-facing operations for the service provider segment. Ajay has over 25 years of enterprise software expertise.

Director Vish Nandlall (Telstra Chief Technology Officer)
Vish Nandlall is CTO for Telstra and a highly regarded telecom visionary. Wireless World recently named Vish one of the "Top 100 Wireless Wave Makers" globally. Prior to joining Telstra, he was CTO for Ericsson in North America. While there, he was responsible for defining Ericsson's strategy and technology in virtual networking and in-building connectivity solutions, establishing novel open innovation processes to drive business and feature requirements in disruptive technology areas. Vish started his career at Nortel Networks, where he developed the industry's first distributed processing system for telecom applications, and pioneered high-availability technologies in shared disk computing. Vish is widely recognized for his contributions to the telecom industry, serving as a director and policy chair for TIA, as well as being a member of the FCC technology advisory committee.

Director Marco Hochstrasser (Swisscom Head of Application Cloud)
Marco Hochstrasser is Head of Swisscom's Application Cloud. He is responsible for the platform development of the Swisscom Cloud and the product management of the Swisscom Application Cloud, a Cloud Foundry certified PaaS made in Switzerland. He has been part of the Swisscom Cloud journey since its very start and had an important stake in the overall transition of Swisscom into the Cloud. Marco joined the Cloud Foundry Foundation over three years ago. The digital native is actively driving the community and the European adoption of Cloud Foundry. Marco joined Swisscom in 2011 and since then had various roles focusing on software development and product management.

The Cloud Foundry Foundation Board of Directors is responsible for the oversight and management of the Foundation's business and technical affairs, property and interests.
